In 1897 Gaudenzio Ciana, the patriarch of the Ciana Family, arrived in Santa Margherita Ligure with his children from his hometown of Orta San Giulio, in the province of Novara, where he had built and owned the well known Hotel Belvedere. Over a century later, his legacy continues through the prestigious hotels he developed in S. Margherita Ligure. Today, Mr. Gaudenzio Ciana's great-great grandson has carried on this tradition by completely renovating the Metropole Hotel and transforming it into an exclusive resort designed to thoroughly satisfy the most demanding guests.
